Another proposed design

For the past couple of years, I had been making plans to create a blog about being single in Indy. This was the design I came up with for it:

I was going to call the blog “Single in Indy”. I had posted samples of the design in very public sites and I didn’t want someone else to come along and take my idea. That’s why the title of the blog is “Stupid in Indy” instead of “Single in Indy”.

I had planned on writing about my experiences and frustration about being single. I was also planning on trying to get other bloggers to write for this blog so it just wouldn’t be about myself.

Unfortunately, between being busy at work and studying, I kept putting this blog and didn’t do it.

It also looks like I will never create this blog because I have met someone who is really awesome and I am no longer single.

My proposed redesign homepage for IndyGov.org

While I was working at the city, I proposed the following as the IndyGov.org homepage:

Unfortunately, it was never deployed. My supervisor at the time did not like it. He did not like having the Mayor’s picture on the site and IndyParks getting so much attention on the homepage. The look he was trying to go for was a simple clean text look, something like Google. That version never happened either because shortly before we moved forward our department was outsourced.

I kept this design, because I thought it was one of my better design projects that I’ve done.

By the way, I did not design this version of IndyGov site. The talented folks at Descom Designs designed the web site.

My Tech goals for 2011

  1. Along with upgrading my MCPD to .net 4.0, I’d like to get MCTS certificates for SQL Server 2008 and SharePoint 2010. My plan is to get the development and administration certificates for each one. Doing this will improve my skillset and it would give me more options in my career.
  2. I also want to get into iPhone/iPad and Android development. I believe that these 2 formats will eventually be leading mobile devices for business and personal use.
  3. I need to provide some code samples/demo projects on my personal site.
  4. I also need to do a better job and keeping my blog and twitter account up to date.
