After taking an Udemy course and I wanted to compare it to an Udacity course. I have recently taken their JavaScript Design Patterns and JavaScript Testing and I thought I would share my thoughts on the classes and Udacity.
Overall, I liked the format of the courses. The videos were nice and brief and they were clear on the teaching points. The Design Patterns course had assignments along with the videos and I also learned Knockout.js. Unfortunately, there were no assignments in the JavaScript Testing class. Another nice perk was there were code samples on GitHub that allowed me to follow along.
The best perk of Udacity is they offer their courses for free. I believe that the free courses are part of their Nanodegree program. I am considering completing as many of the free courses as I can and then try to sign up and complete the program. I’ll research it at a later time and I’ll decide whether or not to do it.
The only thing I didn’t like about the Design Pattern class was I had issues with the final assignment. I need some assistance and advice and Udacity doesn’t provide it for their free customers. I wish they would have provided more support. If they had, I would definitely sign up for their Nanodegree. On a positive note, I fought through and found other resources for help and I completed the project.
